RACE # 2
The
race was awesome, the trails led upwards for the
first 4 miles, then thru a cave, and upwards of
400 feet of elevation change. Then a few long fast
stretches of downhill made the last two miles a
fun breeze filled joyful finish. I was mad that
the trail was so poorly marked, Fara got lost and
I along with a few others ended up doing the same
section twice, I lost a good 5 minutes, it was
their fault they had no trail marshals, and used
thumb tacks on trees with plain paper after a
night of rain this trail was wet, slick and soft.
It sucked the energy right out of you, and there
were no flats, it was up or down, mostly up.
I
think some one was playing games with signs and
the yellow tape too, there were shortcuts that
people were making because the course doubled
across itself at points. This is a disadvantage of
races in tight spaces. The race promoter and the
'officials' were understaffed and they were so
confused none of the results are anywhere near
accurate. Too much attitude made dealing with them
a challenge. I hope they don't give Fara a DNF,
but again it wasn't her fault she crossed the
finish line from a different trail than the one
she started on yet not the right one she was
supposed to come down on. That aside it was a
beautiful place and a great day. I think the
vicious cycles guys are truly vicious, not as
riders but as people.
Fara
& I still had a great day, it was a great
place to ride, and a pretty lake with mountains on
all sides , and it was good to see Jose's very
precious kids and was glad his wife wasn't afraid
to bike again.
Gem
Hey
guys,
I
checked with Tim (race organizer) to verify my
placement and I remained seventh (I
think 59:05) in my age group. Not so bad
considering my chain came off three times and
had a few links too many (could not use gears
4-9) and I also made the wrong turn down a hill
(costed me about 45-60 seconds). It's too bad
Gem had to do the same section twice. I
have never seen him so mad; hey, I would be too.
I actually do not even know if a followed the
course 100% correctly (poorly marked). I was too
exhausted and just eager to finish.

Been
riding in the rockies. You're right, this is
some of the best
riding I've ever done. It's like a drug.
The other day I rode Dakota
Ridge which started out in 65 degree weather.
By the time I hit the
top, it was hailing like you know what. I
was freezing and didn't
prepare for severe weather. Luckily it
lasted only 15 minutes and the
cloud cover passed and returned to a bright and
sunny afternoon.
Weather is weird out here.
Anyways, we'll be in touch.

several new rider aboard we took the trails at
Hartshorne with special devotion and dedication
making sure all was going to be safe. "And
safe turn out to be". With great dedication
16 riders proved that Sundays are a day to
exercise and have a good time on the trails. Cold
it was...... but the group was very hot.
"Glad to see some new riders" WELCOME

Well,
Well!!!!!!!! Another day at the trail's.
Beautiful sunny Sunday. Nothing like a good
group on an amazing trail to be in a day like it
was (loved it). Pretty much everything went
terrific. Marco Animal was doing what he does
best "making loud noises" (its to
scare the bears away). And the rest, well... You
know ridding like a bunch of pro's.
For now Animal-out CIAO....

Well here we are after a strong winter we all
could not wait for the weather to adjust so that
we can meet and feel the outdoors. As we
kept track of the weather conditions and it
demonstrated that it would be the perfect way to
start our riding. Last Sunday's weather was
just perfect not only for mountain bike but also
to meet with and see our friends that it hard to
see during the winter time. It seemed that
everybody was waiting for the right time and
Sunday the 29th of February was the day to
meet..... Everybody seemed to be eager to ride and
we met at the six corners and found all of us with
the spirits of going out and riding. It was
a great Sunday, great riding, great atmosphere and
best of all good friendship. As we all did
our thing off course after all when we return home
it was a great feeling as we are getting ready
again this Sunday, March 7th 2004. Now this
is what's all about getting up on a Sunday and
enjoy!!!!!
